Fashion Week Me!!!

Fashion Week was one of those things I saw in Vogue Magazine and thought that it was something that I would never have access to. Nobody told me I couldn’t go or that it was unobtainable - it was just just a subconscious block on my end. I’m no model, I‘m no designer, and I’m not in those circles professionally or socially.

I am, however, and always have been attracted to fashion, glamour, beauty/style and a good time! As I’m writing this I’m recalling how much I LOVED going school shopping and then my sister and I doing mini “fashion shows” for our Mom. So sweet.

My first NY Fashion Week fashion show came about in a simple, magical ass DECISION to JUST GO. My friend and I did research on all of the Fashion Week events going on, picked one and the rest is history. Something I thought was so not on my radar to experience turned into something I’d travel across the WORLD to attend (more on that later).

High profile, professionally done fashion shows are a great taste of opulence, style and creativity. I walked into the Society’s Fashion Week show excited, not really knowing what to expect. I had so much fun! It’s so cool to get a glimpse into the mind/heart/soul of the designer. It’s also super cool to see how one designer‘s aesthetic can be completely different from another‘s.

Oh! All the deliciousness a good fashion show serves: beautiful materials, gorgeous people with all kinds of features, the rhythmic struts and sashays down the run way, the enchanting decor and engaging hosts, sets that are making statements about politics, and lines that push boundaries and are risqué.

I think I smiled the entire show, eyes wide open, in awe.

It doesn’t have to be NY Fashion Week, but this is definitely an experience that I want for you!
